The Diary of a Patient
About The Diary of a Patient
Welcome to The Diary of a Patient blog. Here I will share my raw experience of my continuous battle with multiple life-changing illnesses. Some of the topics that I cover may be heart-wrenching or triggering for some. Any blog post with self-harm, suicide, suicidal ideation, and mental health topics will be preceded by a semicolon.
The Semicolon (;) - In the grammatical context, “the semicolon signifies where a sentence could have ended but didn’t” (Covington, B. E.,2015). This is symbolic of people who have battled with and won mental health dilemmas, addiction, self-harm, suicide, and depression. Within this context, the sentence represents the sufferer's life, and the placement of the Semicolon represents the promise to keep living, thus continuing the “sentence” that is their life.
Covington, B. E. (2015). The sentence continues: Breaking silences and becoming authors through The Semicolon Project.
DONATIONS
Funds will be used for medical expenses and relocation to a facility better equipped to help with both my Sickle Cell and Polycystic Kidney Disease. Thank you!
